The Guardian: in 2022, more than 60,000 Russian Jews decided to immigrate to Israel. This is three times more than in 2021

In 2022, 26,000 Russian Jews repatriated to Israel, and another 35,000 are awaiting paperwork. The Guardian writes about it.

Thus, this year more than 60,000 Russian Jews decided to repatriate to Israel. This is almost three times more than in 2021, when 21,000 Jews from Russia repatriated to Israel.

Earlier, The Times wrote that between 165,000 and 200,000 Jews live in Russia. Thus, in 2022, every seventh or eighth Jew repatriated from Russia to Israel.

Former Chief Rabbi of Moscow and President of the Conference of European Rabbis Pinchas Goldschmidt believes that it was the mass repatriation of Jews that caused the pressure of the Russian authorities on the Sokhnut agency, which deals with repatriation. In July, the Moscow department of the Ministry of Justice demanded the liquidation of its branch.
