YouTube blocked the channels of the Federation Council. They have been working for over 8 years

Google has blocked the accounts of the Federation Council and Vmeste-RF TV channel on YouTube, which have existed on the platform for more than 8 years. This is stated in the Telegram channel of the Federation Council.

The press service noted that the Federation Council and the Vmeste-RF TV channel will continue to broadcast on domestic platforms. By the time of blocking, the channels had more than 200 thousand subscribers and 20 thousand videos. All information was deleted without the possibility of recovery.

A message from Google, which is cited in the statement, said that the account was suspended "in accordance with the rules regarding export restrictions and the application of sanctions."

Since the beginning of the war, Google has been fighting Russian propaganda on its platform. So, on March 8, YouTube blocked the channel of Vladimir Solovyov for violating the rules of the service. The channel "Evening with Vladimir Solovyov" was also deleted. In June, YouTube blocked the account of the Krasny Kvadrat media group, the largest producer of television content in Russia. A month later, YouTube blocked propagandist Tigran Keosayan's Keosayan Daily channel.

The Russian authorities are investing billions of rubles in the development of the domestic analogue of YouTube – RuTube – and plan to limit the work of foreign video hosting in the country. The Agency and Important Stories publications found out that Gazprom-Media and the Internet Development Institute, which is headed by former and current employees of the Presidential Administration, are allocating money for this. So far, the ex-head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov, who oversees the development of RuTube, has won the most from the project. In 10 months, he earned more than in all 8 years of work in the RKN, and he receives 3,114 rubles per minute, that is, more than 1 million a day, The Insider wrote .
