The European Council agreed on sanctions against Iran for the supply of drones to Russia

The European Council in record time agreed on sanctions against Iran for the supply of Shahed-136 drones to Russia.

“After three days of negotiations, the EU ambassadors agreed on measures against the organizations supplying Iranian drones that attacked Ukraine,” the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union said on Twitter.

The sanctions include freezing the assets of three individuals and one legal entity responsible for delivering the drones. They will also apply to four Iranian organizations that have already appeared in the previous sanctions list. The sanctions will come into force on Thursday, October 20, after being published in the Official Journal of the EU.

Earlier, Ukraine stated that Russia was repainting Iranian Shahed-136 drones and marking them with the inscription "Geran-2". The Ukrainian side invited UN experts to establish their origin. Iran itself denies the supply of drones to Russia.
