Rodnyansky, Zygar, Ponomarev, Plushev and Shumanov were included in the registers of “foreign agents”

The Ministry of Justice has included journalists Alexander Plyushchev and Tatyana Felgenhauer, producer Alexander Rodnyansky and five other people in the register of natural persons – “foreign agents”. Among them are politician Ilya Ponomarev and the head of Transparency International – Russia Ilya Shumanov. Journalist Mikhail Zygar was included in the list of media outlets as “foreign agents”.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Justice included rapper Oksimiron, human rights activist Alena Popova, Alexei Navalny's press secretary Kira Yarmysh, editor-in-chief of the Dozhd TV channel Tikhon Dzyadko, and journalist Dmitry Nizovtsev into the register of individuals who are "foreign agents".

Writer Dmitry Glukhovsky and film critic Anton Dolin were included in the list of media-“foreign agents”.

On June 29, the State Duma adopted in the third, final reading the law “On Control over the Activities of Persons Under Foreign Influence”. According to the law, anyone can be recognized as a so-called foreign agent. To do this, it is enough, according to the authorities, to be under "foreign influence" even in the absence of foreign funding.
