In the center of Moscow began to check the condition of bomb shelters in schools. This is reported by Podyem with reference to employees of specialized companies serving schools and kindergartens on electrical, plumbing and sewerage issues.
According to the interlocutors, no one showed the order, but the management reported that the order had come to "bring the bomb shelter into working condition." The companies are now preparing sewerage and setting up electricity in four schools in the center of Moscow (Presnya and Kutuzovsky, and the Dobryninskaya/Oktyabrskaya district). At the same time, the state of the premises, which should be used as shelters, is "running", the source clarifies.
On October 15, "Important stories" found out that on the doors of the houses of the Moscow HOA "Atom" (Demyan Poor Street) there was an announcement about the preparation of bomb shelters for "reception of sheltered". Residents were asked to free underground parking from personal belongings and cars, as they will be "brought into line with the direct purpose of the civil defense facility."
In July, Deputy Mayor of Moscow Pyotr Biryukov said that the addresses of bomb shelters in which Moscow residents could take refuge in the event of a nuclear attack, as well as information about their number and readiness for use, are "state secrets." So he responded to the appeal of the Moscow City Duma deputy from the Communist Party Yevgeny Stupin, who requested the addresses of bomb shelters because of the threats of state propaganda and some deputies with nuclear strikes against foreign states. According to him, against this background, the risk of retaliatory strikes against Moscow increases.
At the same time, in January, even before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, an article appeared in the propaganda publication Gazeta.Ru with the headline: “The Ministry of Emergency Situations told how Russians can find a bomb shelter near their home.” The text, in addition to denying the impending Russian invasion, claimed that citizens could find out the addresses of bomb shelters. Thus, retired Major General of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Igor Yakupov stated that "you can find out the addresses of the nearest shelters and shelters at the district training and consultation centers for civil defense."
