TASS: Su-34 in Yeysk crashed due to two seagulls getting into engines

A Su-34 bomber in Yeysk caught fire and crashed due to the fact that two gulls got into the engines. It is reported by TASS with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies.

The agency was told that the birds got into the engines during the plane's takeoff. “Their remains were found by experts when examining the wreckage of the aircraft,” TASS quoted the interlocutor as saying.

A Su-34 military aircraft crashed near a residential building in Yeysk, Krasnodar Territory, on the evening of October 17, the pilots managed to eject. A fire broke out at the crash site, explosions sounded. The fire damaged several floors of the building. 14 people died, 19 were injured.

The Ministry of Defense stated that, according to the report of the ejected pilots, the cause of the crash was the ignition of one of the engines during takeoff. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Art. 351 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of flight rules or preparation for them).
