Children’s Ombudsman: 350 orphans from Donbass adopted in Russia

In Russia, 350 orphans from Donbass have already been adopted, said Anna Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children's Rights in Russia. Her words are quoted by RBC. Lvova-Belova added that another thousand children from the annexed DPR and LPR are awaiting adoption.

“We can help organize a meeting or, for example, bring children, because there is a turbulent situation and not every family will be able to get [to the child to meet in person],” the Ombudsman said.

According to her, work is now underway to create a team and the positions of children's ombudsmen themselves in the LDNR, as well as the occupied Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

At the end of September, Lvova-Belova said that 30 Ukrainian children were taken from Mariupol to Russia, who were allegedly abandoned by foster parents. These children, she said, have been placed with new families and taught to love Russia. Ukraine demands to return the children to their legal representatives, but Russia refuses to do so.
