Ford left Russia

The American automobile concern Ford Motor has left the Russian market. This is stated in a statement on the company's website.

The departure from Russia occurred through the sale by the company of its stake (49% of shares) in the Sollers joint venture to a Russian partner. Ford said in a statement that the sale follows the complete halt of all operations in Russia since March, including assembly, supply and technical support.

"If the global situation changes," Ford retains the right to buy back shares for five years.

Earlier it became known that the German concern Mercedes-Benz was leaving the Russian market. The company will sell its plant, opened only in 2019. She estimated her Russian assets at €2 billion, but because of the war, experts say, they can be transferred to a new owner for a symbolic 1 ruble. This is due to the difficulties of withdrawing funds from Russia.
