The head of the first department for especially important cases of the Nizhny Novgorod department of the ICR stopped the criminal prosecution of a local resident under the article on military "fakes" (part 1 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
This is the first time that a criminal case under this article has been dismissed in Russia. It was initiated due to the publication on the Internet of a link to a video about the genocide in Bucha and was terminated due to the lack of corpus delicti.
The official reason, write "Network Freedoms", was that the video was posted "before the release of the official denial by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation regarding the events that took place in the cities of Irpin and Bucha of the Republic of Ukraine." The defendant's defense was able to prove that he published "knowingly false" information unintentionally.
The first person to receive a real term under the article about "fakes" was the Moscow municipal deputy Alexei Gorinov. On July 8, he was sentenced to 7 years in a penal colony for calling at a meeting of the council of deputies to stop the war in Ukraine.
