Human rights activist, founder of the Gulagu.net project, Vladimir Osechkin, became a defendant in a criminal case on “spreading disinformation about the actions of the Russian army,” Yulia Ivanova, spokeswoman for the capital’s head office of the Investigative Committee, said. Osechkin left Russia long ago and now lives in France.
According to the investigation, in March 2022, Osechkin, on his channel Human Rights Youtube channel Gulagu.net, “publicly disseminated deliberately false information about the activities of Russian military personnel during a special military operation.”
“Thus, with his publications, he discredited the state authorities and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Currently, the issue of declaring the defendant on the wanted list is being considered, ”Ivanova said.
Osechkin himself commented on this case:
“This criminal case against me is another fake of the TFR and a clear manifestation of the duplicity of the Putin regime. One head of this two-headed freak bird wants to kill me, the other wants to plant me, and only then kill me. They hate me, as they hate everything independent and bold, honest and open. KGB mustiness VS democratic future. Since October 2015, I have been living in France, I am not under the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation, I do not pay taxes to the treasury of the totalitarian regime, which allocates hundreds of billions of rubles from the budget for wars, murders and torture prisons. What do they have to do with me? Yes, none. Do I have any relation to the Russian authorities? Not".
On October 25, it was reported that a criminal case had been initiated in France about a criminal community and about the preparation by an organized group of persons of the murder of Osechkin.
Vladimir Osechkin and his human rights project Gulagu.net are publicizing law-breaking cases in Russia's penitentiary system.
