Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, who has recently been criticized a lot by Ramzan Kadyrov, has been removed from his post as commander of the Central Military District. This is reported by the media with reference to Russian military correspondents, and the TV presenter of Channel One Anastasia Kashevarova also wrote about this.
The withdrawal was also reported by the Grozny State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company and RBC, citing sources. There is no official information from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation yet.
Colonel General Lapin has recently been repeatedly criticized by the head of Chechnyk Kadyrov, as well as co-founder of PMC Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin. According to Kadyrov, Lapin is personally to blame for the loss of Liman by the Russian military and for the breakthrough of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the settlements of Terny, Torskoye and Yampolovka in the Donetsk region. The head of Chechnya also noted that Lapin received the star of the hero of Russia for the capture of Lisichansk, although in fact "he was not there and was not around."
On October 26, Sota reported that Lapin personally put a gun to the temples of the retreating mobilized in Svatovo and threatened them with execution, and answered requests for food: “A carrion like you should not eat, drink, or sleep.”
Lapin is also known for rewarding his own son, Denis Lapin, who commanded a regiment advancing on Chernigov and Sumy. From the negotiations published by Ukrainian intelligence, it follows that the regiment suffered serious losses, but its commander, Lapin Jr., was still presented for the award.
