Telegraph: UK has agreed to unlock £1m in Aven’s accounts so he can maintain a luxurious lifestyle

The UK government has agreed to unfreeze £1m in the accounts of sanctioned Russian oligarch Petr Aven so he can maintain his lavish lifestyle. The Telegraph writes about it.

This includes a monthly living allowance of £60,000 and a lump sum payment of £388,000 to pay off "urgent debts". According to the Telegraph, "urgent debts" include tuition fees for one of Aven's children at a private school in the UK.

In July, a court in London had already allowed Aven to spend money from previously frozen accounts for "basic needs." As Bloomberg wrote , most of them go to pay for the protection and insurance of the art collection.

After the European Union and the UK imposed sanctions against Aven, he complained about the difficulties that appeared in his life: “Will I be allowed to hire a cleaning lady or a driver? I don't drive… Maybe my stepdaughter will. We don't understand how to survive."
