Former world chess champion Anatoly Karpov hospitalized after being put into an artificial coma

World chess champion and State Duma deputy Anatoly Karpov was hospitalized. He is in intensive care, according to Mash, citing his daughter Sophia. She stated that the grandmaster was injured as a result of a fall, no one attacked him.

The version of the attack was voiced by some Telegram channels. Mash and " Baza ", as well as the Telegram channel 112 , which specializes in criminal chronicles, claim, without citing sources, that the deputy was drunk.

The 71-year-old grandmaster was found on the street on October 29 near the State Duma in an unconscious state.

Karpov held the title of World Chess Champion from 1975–1985. In 1985, he lost to Garry Kasparov. Karpov is also a three-time world champion according to the International Chess Federation (1993, 1996, 1998), a two-time world champion in the USSR team (1985 and 1989).
