Roskomnadzor asked the American educational Internet service Scratch to change the user registration system in the Russian version and leave only two genders there – male and female. This was reported to the department.
“Roskomnadzor turned to the administration of the Scratch educational Internet service with a notification of the need to change the data set collected during registration of Russian users, leaving only two gender options – male and female,” the report says.
“Earlier, information appeared that the Scratch educational service, at the registration stage, offers users various options for choosing a gender, including those that do not correspond to Russian traditional values,” the department noted.
“Also, the administration of the educational service was notified of the redundancy of the collected data, since in Russia men and women have equal rights, including to receive education,” the RKN said in a statement.
When registering on the Scratch website, the user is asked about the gender of the answer options: “Female”, “Male”, “Non-binary”, “Other”, and “I prefer not to say”.
