Russia wants to buy goods from North Korea – RIA Novosti

Russia wants to buy clothes and shoes from the DPRK for further imports. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang.

“The Russian Federation is very interested in purchasing goods from the DPRK, including garments, shoes, and so on. Our country has the corresponding capabilities and needs,” the state agency quotes the embassy’s response.

The diplomatic mission argues that the move will restart trade relations with North Korea, and not start them from scratch. The embassy recalled that in the 1980s and 90s, countries already supplied each other with their own products.

At the same time, according to RIA, diplomats understand that trade with the DPRK is complicated by the resolutions of the UN Security Council. It was first adopted in 2006 after North Korea's first successful nuclear test. Subsequently, the UN Security Council adopted a dozen more resolutions, one of which, among other things, prohibits citizens of the DPRK from working abroad.
