The Ministry of Emergency Situations said that fire safety checks at the Polygon nightclub, where, according to various sources, from 13 to 15 people died as a result of a fire, have not been carried out since 2019. The message of the department leads TASS.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, no inspections were carried out, since the owner of the building is an individual entrepreneur (IE), classified as a micro-enterprise (small business). At the same time, the tenant Polygon LLC ceased operations at this facility in 2019, which was notified in writing to the supervisory authority, RBC clarifies .

Mash claims that, according to preliminary information, only 3 out of 7 fire exits were working in the club. One of the closed doors was knocked out by the visitor Andrey Kuzmin, whom the inhabitants of Kostroma thank in social networks for saving people. According to eyewitnesses, there were about 300 people in the room at the time of the fire.

Criminal cases have been initiated on causing death by negligence to two or more persons (part 3 of article 109 of the Criminal Code) and on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements and resulted in the death of two or more persons (part 3 of article 238 of the Criminal Code). The owner of Polygon, a local deputy from United Russia, Ikhtiyar Mirzoev, told RBC that he would provide financial and organizational support to the families and friends of the victims.

According to the Telegram channels Baza and 112, before the fire, a mass brawl broke out in the club, one of the visitors launched a rocket launcher at an opponent and fled. The media claim that the police detained the alleged culprit, he will be taken for questioning. According to 112, this is 23-year-old soldier Stanislav Ionkin, who fired from the Hunter's Signal launcher at the ceiling.
