“He said that he was alive, but miraculously escaped.” “Layout” received two more confirmations of the shelling near Makiivka from relatives of those mobilized from Voronezh

Darina, sister of the mobilized Sergei Slivin

On October 12, my brother, Sergei Slivin, a motorized rifleman, was mobilized. They had exercises in unit 2079, on Leninsky Prospekt (in Voronezh, – approx. “Layouts”). On October 31, they were sent to Valuiki (a village in the Belgorod region on the border with Ukraine, – approx. “Layouts”), they were given bulletproof vests there, and on November 1 in the morning – already to the Lugansk direction. They were told that they would be like a therodefense. He called to say that the shipment was being sent and that the phone would be turned off. When it would be possible to get in touch, he did not know.

My brother called my mother yesterday morning. He said that he and the guys were hit by tanks. He said that he was alive, that he miraculously escaped, but he was shell-shocked. He said that four people died next to him, and another friend of his was wounded – and he was sent to the hospital, but it is not known which one. Maybe, in order not to upset his mother, he did not go into detail about what exactly happened. But he said that they were hit by tanks. Now he is in a quiet place, but he does not know when he will get in touch next time. The conversation lasted literally 40 seconds.

One of the soldiers from our village contacted his parents and said that they were abandoned by the command and last night they approached the border with the Belgorod region. They cannot enter the territory because they are considered deserters.

Relative of the mobilized person (“Nimage” does not publish the name of the interlocutor at her request for security reasons)

Ivan (name changed at the request of a relative) told his wife that on October 31 he was near Valuyki. And on the morning of November 1, they were loaded into cars and taken in an unknown direction. Since then, he has never contacted us.

Yesterday, another mobilized man, who lived with Ivan in the same room during the exercises, contacted his wife by phone. He asked his wife to tell us that Ivan is with him, he is alive. I understood from his story that there were mobilized about 500 people, but they were without command, alone. What the fight was like, I don’t know.

Guys who are alive about 30 people tried to cross the border of the Belgorod region, but could not. They were discovered by the local patrol. Then the mobilized settled in some house, where they are now – they make a list of all the surviving mobilized. The phone from which this other mobilized called yesterday fell into the hands of another military man later, and then it was no longer possible to contact any of them by this number.

My daughter, Ivan’s wife, is now in the administration (of the Voronezh region – approx. “Layouts”), with other wives and mothers of the mobilized. I think they are asked in turn what they know from their husbands or sons.

Under the conditions of hostilities, “Nimage” cannot verify the exact figures of losses, the data are given from the words of relatives and mobilized, the publication continues to study the situation.
