The leader of France’s largest right-wing party has changed. 27-year-old Jordan Bardella was elected as the new chairman instead of Marine Le Pen.

The new leader of the French right joined the party at the age of 16, in 2019 he became an MEP.

Monde points out that Le Pen remains the “true patroness” of the movement and that she has repeatedly demonstrated this in recent months.

Figaro writes that Bardell’s election was expected, but notes that he managed to win more convincingly than Le Pen in 2011 (84% of the vote against 67%).
