Maxar has published satellite images of the graves near Mariupol, according to the BBC, more than 1,500 graves could be dug at the mass grave site. In them, the Russian occupation authorities can rebury civilians who died during the war, whose bodies were previously exhumed from the yards. At the same time, the exact number of bodies already buried there is unknown.
The British Center for Information Sustainability has analyzed three mass graves in Stary Krym, Mangush and Vinogradnoye, which have been growing since spring. It is specified that 1,500 new graves have been dug in Stary Krym since the images were last analyzed. In total, more than 4,600 graves have appeared there since the beginning of the war, but it is not known how many bodies there are.
Residents of the city told the publication that they saw how Russian-appointed authorities removed the bodies of the dead from under the rubble of destroyed buildings and took them away in an unknown direction. In the Vinogradnoye area near Mariupol, according to local residents, about 800 new graves were counted. According to the photographs provided by the woman, most of the graves are marked with the number of the burial and the gender of the deceased, most of the bodies are not identified.
In April, the Mariupol city council, citing local residents, reported that Russian troops had begun the process of exhuming bodies that were buried in the courtyards of residential buildings, while they prohibited the burial of the dead. Where the bodies went is unknown.
In almost every city liberated from Russian occupation, mass graves of local residents are found, as well as signs of genocide. So, according to the Ukrainian authorities, two mass graves were found in Liman: one contains about 200 bodies, the second contains about 20. In early October, the first 20 bodies were removed from a mass grave in the city, including the remains of a family with two small children. On June 13, another mass grave was discovered near Bucha, said Andrei Nebytov, head of the Kiev region police: “The Russians tortured and then brutally executed 7 civilians with headshots. This mass grave of executed civilians was discovered today at the positions of Russian soldiers near the village of Mirotskoye, Buchansky district. Many of the victims had their hands tied and [were] shot through the knees.” In total, more than 1.2 thousand killed local residents were found in the Kiev region after the retreat of the Russian army.
