Ukraine received the latest NASAMS air defense systems – Ministry of Defense

Ukraine received the latest NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) and Aspide anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAM) as military assistance. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov on Twitter.

“This weapon will significantly strengthen the Ukrainian army and make our skies safer. We will continue to shoot down enemy targets attacking us. Thanks to our partners: Norway, Spain and the USA.”

NASAMS (Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System) is a Norwegian-American medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (up to 50 km) capable of shooting down helicopters, drones, aircraft and cruise missiles.

Earlier, Politico found out that during the war against Ukraine, the Russian military failed to destroy a single HIMARS installation. A spokesman for the US Department of Defense said that Ukraine received 20 installations in total, and 18 more will be delivered as part of a new assistance package.

The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly reported on the destruction of American MLRS. For example, on September 3, the representative of the Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov , announced the elimination of one HIMARS installation in the Konstantinovka area in the Donetsk region. On September 9, Russia allegedly destroyed another one, at the Chervony Donets in the Kharkov region, and on the 25th – in the Nikolaev region. Presumably, decoys made of wood could have been mistaken for HIMARS.
