Meta Platforms Inc. (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) plans to lay off thousands of employees. The cuts may be announced on Wednesday, November 9, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources familiar with the situation.
Officials have already warned employees to cancel trips scheduled for this week, officials said.
At the end of September, the company employed 87,000 people. According to the publication, the planned layoffs could be among the largest in this area after the industry's rapid growth during the pandemic. Meta declined to comment on the information.
