The accusations from the German authorities against Alisher Usmanov are unfounded and false, he is a conscientious taxpayer in Russia, a representative of the businessman told RIA Novosti.
Spiegel previously wrote that German police were raiding UBS branches in Frankfurt and Munich, trying to find evidence of Usmanov’s suspicion of money laundering. UBS bank confirmed the searches to RIA Novosti and stated that it was cooperating with the authorities on this issue.
And the German NDR and Sueddeutsche reported that investigators in Germany seized 30 paintings by famous artists, including the work of Chagall, previously stored on the Dilbar yacht, allegedly owned by Gulbakhor Ismailova, Usmanov’s sister. At the same time, the businessman’s press service denied RIA Novosti the businessman’s involvement in the yacht and the seized paintings.
