Republicans have captured at least 210 seats in the House of Representatives, according to Reuters, citing a preliminary forecast by Edison Research. It takes 218 seats to achieve a majority in the lower house of the US Parliament. The counting is still ongoing.
As of the morning of November 10 (about 90% of ballots have been counted), the following results have been published.
House of Representatives:
- CNN – 209 Republicans, 191 Democrats

Senate:
- CNN – Republicans 49, Democrats 48

The NBCnews channel gives the predicted final result of the election. Based on intermediate numbers, the channel predicts that the Republicans will have 222 votes, which means they will take the required majority in the lower house.
In the Senate, according to NBC's calculations, Republicans will take 49 seats against 48 from Democrats. The results of the US Senate elections will be known in December, when the second round will be held in Georgia. In this state, after counting 99% of the votes, none of the candidates won an absolute majority of votes, so it is likely that the second round of voting on December 6 will determine the distribution of seats in the upper house of Congress.
CNN writes that the victory of the Republicans in the elections was not nearly as impressive as expected. Even a slim majority in the House of Representatives will allow Republicans to shape the remainder of Biden's term by blocking priorities like abortion rights and launching investigations into his administration and family.
“Yesterday we had elections – I think it was a good day for democracy. And I think it was a good day for America," Biden told reporters at the White House. The US president added, "While the press and pundits are predicting a giant red wave, it didn't happen… The Democrats had a big night."
