Pentagon: Russia lost more than 100 thousand soldiers in the war, wounded and killed

More than 100,000 Russian soldiers were wounded or killed in the war in Ukraine, according to Mark Milley , head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Ukraine, he said, probably lost as much.

Milley also said that, according to US estimates, about 40,000 civilians in Ukraine have died since the beginning of the war, and from 15 million to 30 million Ukrainians have become refugees. “This is a huge scale of human suffering,” he said.

Where the data was obtained from, the American general did not specify.

Russia hides its losses. During the war, the Ministry of Defense reported on the dead only three times. The last time was in September, when mobilization was announced. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu then said that 5,937 Russian soldiers had died. He did not name the number of those who were wounded, but he assured that more than 90% of them had already allegedly returned to duty.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of November 9, more than 77,000 Russian soldiers were killed .

In October, Important Stories, citing sources in the Russian special services, claimed that Russia's irretrievable losses in the war could be more than 90,000 people. This is the number of those killed, missing, dying from wounds in hospitals, as well as the wounded who can no longer return to military service.
