The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced the return of control over Kherson and turned to the Russian military.
“Kherson is returning under the control of Ukraine, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are entering the city,” the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced .
The department appealed to the Russian soldiers, noting that the command had abandoned them to their fate, and the commanders "urged to change into civilian clothes and try to escape from Kherson on their own."
“The retreat routes of the Russian invaders are under the fire control of the Ukrainian army. Any attempts to oppose the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be stopped. Every Russian soldier who resists will be destroyed. You have the only chance to avoid death – immediately surrender, ”the message says.
In the event of voluntary surrender, the Ukrainian authorities promised security to Russian soldiers.
“We comply with the Geneva Conventions, guarantee prisoners of war food, medical care and the possibility of your exchange for servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces held captive in the Russian Federation.”
The withdrawal of Russian troops from the right bank of the Dnieper and from Kherson, which was occupied in March, opens up many opportunities for Ukraine, both logistical and combat. In particular, new kill zones for HIMARS MLRS missiles appear – for example, the north of Crimea.
