Persecuted and/or censored journalists in Russia set up…

Persecuted and/or censored journalists in Russia set up an independent project ASTRA.

For 8 months, 24/7 ASTRA journalists have been working for the audience without getting paid. Each author, including the creator and editor of the project Nastya Chumakova, a former RTVI correspondent in New York and deputy head of the BAZA information service, are volunteers. The project has no investors, sponsors or grants. Only donations from readers and money from advertising. Everyone combines part-time work with work in ASTRA. All in order not to depend on anyone and never have taboo topics in the publication.

During the 8 months of its existence, ASTRA journalists, together with their colleagues from Meduza, managed to do a lot of research murders and rapes by the Russian military in the Kyiv region and receive an award for this material “Editorial board”, to make the most detailed Russian-language investigation of the explosion in the drama theater of Mariupoltell about the secret prison in Lugansk region, where about 40 mobilized citizens of the Russian Federation were illegally detained, and also find 7 more basements and prisons for Russians in the “LDNR“, and much more.
