A pensioner from Moscow heard an advertisement on the radio about helping victims of scammers and called the number indicated. It would be better if he didn’t.

The 78-year-old Muscovite invested 800 thousand rubles of savings in one of the capital’s consumer cooperatives. As a result, the interest on the deposit barely reached 50 thousand, after which the man turned to lawyers to get his money out. But he was able to return only 140 thousand.

At the end of October, he heard an advertisement on the radio for assistance to victims of fraud and decided to call. Two days later, he was dialed by a woman who introduced herself as an employee of a certain “National Financial Fund”. She listened to his story and promised to help.

The next time the pensioner was contacted by a man who identified himself as an investigator. As a first step, he told the victim to transfer 70 thousand to the specified card in order to obtain a certain license. The pensioner did just that.

The next day, the same “investigator” said that the 800 thousand he had invested would soon be returned. However, in order to be able to withdraw them without restrictions, you need to put another 125 thousand on the same card. The man did this too.

Only after the second time the man realized that he was being deceived, and contacted the police. It is interesting that later they called him for the third time – they asked for another 140 thousand to settle the issue at the Central Bank.
