46 people have been detained in connection with the explosion in the center of Istanbul, Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said. Among the detainees is a woman who fled the scene of the explosion, leaving a bag with an explosive device there, reports TRT.
Local media released a video from Istiklal Street, in which the suspect is said to be running away after the explosion. According to Turkish publications, a pistol and cartridges were found in her rented apartment.
The fact that the woman was recorded by surveillance cameras was reported on the day of the attack. She sat on the bench for about 40–45 minutes, left her bag, left, and after a while there was an explosion. In the video, she runs in camouflage pants and a hijab. As the head of the Turkish bureau of the publication Middle East Eye Racep Soylu noted, the hijab is not worn correctly, as it does not cover the neck.
As a result of the attack, six people were killed and 81 others were injured. Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu said earlier that militants from the Syrian wing of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK/YPG), recognized as a terrorist organization in Turkey, were involved in the explosion.
