In Bashkiria, the leadership of the Drama Theater. Mazhita Gafuri has canceled the play "Zuleikha opens her eyes" based on the novel by Guzel Yakhina.
In a statement posted on the theatre's website, the play was canceled because "the opinion of the theater workers does not coincide with the opinion of the author."
“The Bashkir Academic Drama Theater named after Mazhit Gafuri supports a special military operation that Russia was forced to carry out in Ukraine. The theater is called upon to promote the common spiritual values for the Russian people,” the message says.
The statement quoted Yakhina from her post: “The news of February 24, 2022 has crushed me. My world has not turned upside down, but simply – destroyed. “But a world in which neo-Nazis and fascists have been killing our brotherly people for eight years is unacceptable for us, cultural figures. Today, our soldiers, among whom are our colleagues – cultural workers of the institutions of our republic, are defending a world without Nazism, ”the theater said in a statement.
