Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on the murder of former prisoner Yevgeny Nuzhin, whose video was published by the Gray Zone Telegram channel associated with the Wagner PMC.
“No, we don't have any comment. We do not know what it is, how true it is. It's none of our business," Peskov said.
In the video, Nuzhin, who surrendered to Ukrainian captivity in September, says that he was kidnapped from Kyiv and “they will now be judged.” After that, they smash his head with a sledgehammer.
Wagner PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin publicly endorsed the assassination. “I prefer to watch history in the theatre. As for the sledgehammer, in this show it is clear that he did not find happiness in Ukraine, but met with unkind, but fair people. It seems to me that this film is called "Dog – dog death." Excellent directorial work, looks in one breath. I hope not a single animal was harmed during filming,” Prigozhin was quoted by the press service of his Concord company.
Employees of the human rights project Gulagu.net suspect that Nuzhin was handed over to the Wagnerites in exchange for the Ukrainian military.
According to the Caution, News Telegram channel, Nuzhin was 55 years old, he was sentenced for murder, he served 23 of 28 years. It is reported that before his imprisonment he served in the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
