The Russian military during the retreat from Kherson released all prisoners from the pre-trial detention center, including 15 people with life sentences – media

During the retreat from Kherson, the Russian military released everyone who was in the local pre-trial detention center. This was reported by a correspondent of the Ukrainian edition of Hromadske from Kherson. According to media reports, the “administration” of the pre-trial detention center, which was urgently evacuated, opened the exit for the prisoners as well.

In the Kherson pre-trial detention center, the Ukrainian military discovered the cases of 457 convicts, 15 of them to life imprisonment. They served time in different colonies and temporarily ended up in the Kherson pre-trial detention center. After the Russians fled, all the convicts fled, their location is unknown. Only one life-sentenced prisoner was returned.

Also, cases of 59 people detained by the Russians during the occupation were found in the pre-trial detention center. They took all these people with them during the flight from Kherson. According to the military, the detainees were taken to Crimea.

On November 9, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, following the report of the commander of Russian troops in Ukraine, Sergei Surovikin , ordered the military to leave the right bank of the Dnieper and go to the left. Thus, Kherson and the right-bank part of the Kherson region were liberated.
