US President Joe Biden told NATO and G7 partners that the explosion in Poland is the result of Ukrainian air defense. This is with reference to a source in NATO reports Reuters.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims the same thing: the rocket, whose fragments fell in Poland, belonged to the Ukrainian S-300 air defense system. Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the department, said that Russia carried out “precision strikes” on November 15 only against targets in Ukraine “at a distance no closer than 35 km from the Ukrainian-Polish border.”
Earlier, Biden spoke publicly: according to him, it is unlikely that this missile was launched from Russia. This is evidenced by the trajectory of her flight. The Associated Press, citing three American officials, wrote that it was a Ukrainian air defense missile.
At the same time, the Polish Foreign Ministry claims that the rocket is Russian-made.
The rocket fell on November 15 in the village of Przewodov, Lublin Voivodeship, Poland, 6 km from the border with Ukraine. As a result, two people died, the grain dryer was damaged. A meeting of the Committee of the Council of Ministers for National Security and Defense under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was urgently convened in the country. Mateusz Lachowski, a journalist for Polsat News in Ukraine, wrote that the wreckage that was found in Pszewoduv was part of the Russian X-101 cruise missile. At the same time, OSINT specialists, based on photo and video analysis, claim that the debris looks like part of the engine of the Soviet S-300 missile. They are in service with Ukrainian air defense.
