Sergei Sobyanin did not leave Muscovites a choice: if the New Year is celebrated in Moscow, the money from him will in any case be spent on the war.
This follows from the announcement by the mayor voting on Active Citizen.
Residents of the capital are offered either to agree to festive events and the money received from them “to be sent to support participants in a special military operation”, or “not to hold mass concert events, and the proceeds from holding events should be directed to support participants in a special military operation.”
How it is possible not to hold events, but to receive funds from them in the voting and Sobyanin’s post is not specified.
The only option for refusing to support the war is, in principle, refusing to celebrate, but go for it Sobyanin does not advise: “… it is better to consider not the savings on holidays, but the income from them – which will allow us to send many times more to support the participants in a special military operation.”
