The court extended the arrest of St. Petersburg resident Oleg Belousov until March 2. He is accused of spreading fake news about the army (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) through the diggers’ chat on Vkontakte. Also, according to the lawyer, a second case was opened against Belousov under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code on “calls for extremist activity using the Internet”.
According to investigators, Belousov spread false information about the war with Ukraine in the diggers’ chat on VKontakte, and also spoke negatively against Putin. A complaint against the man was filed by his friend Sergei Chmykhun.
The meeting was held behind closed doors. No one could explain the reason for closing the meeting.
