Marine Mikhail Dianov, who defended Azovstal, transferred the money collected for his treatment to the children of his dead colleagues, who also defended the plant in Mariupol.
Dianov transferred the first part of the amount – ₴3 million to the Association of Families of Azovstal Defenders. The organization is also managed by Azovstal members themselves. “Each subsequent day [in captivity] was more and more difficult. But I personally knew that my daughter was waiting for me at home. And thanks to many people and each of you, I got the chance to hug her, to communicate with her now, to be near. But there are those children who will no longer see their parents. This is the worst,” Dianov writes on his Facebook page.
After being released from Russian captivity, Dianov lacked 4 cm of bone in his shattered hand. He also had bullet wounds to his legs. The Ukrainians announced a fee for the treatment of a Marine. Over ₴6.5 million was collected during the first day of release alone. On October 14, Dianov sent ₴23.4 million to his colleagues. He said that the Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov and the Shakhtar football club helped him with the treatment.
