North Korea launched an ICBM that landed just 200km from Japan and had enough range to reach the United States mainland, Reuters reported , citing Japanese officials.

The rocket fell 200 km from the island of Oshima near Hokaido within the exclusive economic zone of Japan.

Japanese Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada said the flight lasted 69 minutes. According to him, the flight range could exceed 15 thousand km, which already includes the territory of the United States.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said there were no reports of damage, but repeated missile launches by the DPRK were unacceptable.

The White House said that the missile launch would destabilize the security situation in the region and called on Pyongyang to hold serious talks, RIA Novosti reports .
