A resident of the Altai Territory was charged with an "illegal armed formation" on the basis of personal correspondence in Telegram. ASTRA reports .
According to these data, the case file states that a resident of Biysk, Alina P., wrote a personal message in a messenger to a resident of Tyumen, in which she offered to help with housing and place it in Kharkov. According to the investigation, the girl, who currently lives in Ukraine, allegedly gave the young man some contacts to communicate with “people who will help him join the ranks of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps.”
Now, based on the materials of personal correspondence in Telegram, a case has been opened against a citizen of the Russian Federation “on complicity in preparing for participation in an illegal armed formation on the territory of a foreign state.” The case was initiated on November 17 by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Center for Emergency Control with the assistance of the FSB of the Belgorod Region under Part 5 of Art. 33, part 1, art. 30 h. 2 tbsp. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. On what basis the security forces read the personal correspondence of two citizens of the Russian Federation is unknown.
Lawyer Aleksey Fedyarov, in an interview with The Insider, noted that this is not the first such case, there are no secret correspondence, and if the operatives want to get access to the correspondence, they can do it.
“It is not clear how this SMS was received – maybe there was surveillance of the phone, maybe some kind of program was introduced into the smartphone, maybe there were some technical means to remove computer information. We do not know how it was, but I have a case back in 2018, where there was a receipt of computer information in Telegram. I don’t understand why so many people fall for the myth of Telegram’s security. This is a regular messenger, which is simply opened, like WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook messenger. This is all a myth made and devoured by millions. The funny thing is when people use secret chats that supposedly get erased. Everything you need to get, you can get. Operational work is a creative process and a matter of having a good technician, a good opera. A little imagination – and everything turns out.
