⚽️ The FIFA World Cup kicked off with the Qatar-Ecuador match at Al Beit Stadium.
World Cup games will be held at 8 arenas. The organizers boast that this championship will be the most compact: all the arenas are built around or in Doha. The maximum distance between the two stadiums is only 75 km.
Seven of the eight arenas were built specifically for the tournament (with the exception of Khalifa International). All but “974” are air conditioned.
The organizers have carefully worked out the issue of heritage. So, some will remain, some will be converted into a multifunctional center (“Lusail”), and some will be completely demolished (“974”).
