Shooting at gay club in Colorado Springs kills five

At least five people have been killed and 18 others injured in a shooting at the Club Q gay club in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The New York Times, citing the Colorado Springs Police Department , writes that the first call with a message about the shooting came on November 20, at 23:57 local time. After that, the police arrived at Club Q and detained the suspect. Lieutenant Pamela Castro, cited by US media, says he was also wounded and taken to the hospital. She added that the police had just begun an investigation and the number of victims could change.

Club Q issued a statement about the incident on their Facebook page: “Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community. Our prayers and thoughts are with all the victims, their families and friends. We thank our heroic clients for the quick response that allowed us to neutralize the perpetrator and put an end to this hate crime.”

In 2016, at the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, 50 people were killed and more injured in a shooting. This is the largest massacre in US history in terms of the number of victims.
