“My sons must serve. But you, the great officials, should not. The head of Dagestan will check the children of officials who evade the army

The head of the Republic of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, criticized officials whose sons evade military service and promised to consider their cases at the draft board. The video was published by RBC.

“I, the colonel-general, have sons to serve. And you, such great officials, sons should not serve,” Melikov told civil servants.

He said that he had already familiarized himself with "the list of children of certain officials who did not appear on conscription as part of the autumn campaign."

At Melikov himself, in August 2007, during the performance of a combat mission in Degestan, his stepson, the commander of the assault group Dmitry Serkov, who served in the Vityaz special forces detachment, died, the newspaper notes.

In September, the hosts of the Popular Politics program, created by supporters of Alexei Navalny, called the sons of prominent officials and invited them to appear at the military registration and enlistment office. One of those they reached on the phone was the son of Russian President Dmitry Peskov's press secretary, Nikolai. Under the guise of a military commissar, the presenter Dmitry Nizovtsev informed him about the summons sent and offered to appear for a medical examination the next day at 10 am. “You must understand, if you know that I am Mr. Peskov, how much it is not entirely correct for me to be there. In short, I will solve it at a different level, ”Peskov’s son answered. And he said that he was not going to come to the military registration and enlistment office.
