Yangulbaev: security forces in Chechnya abducted more than 20 people after an attack by a resident of Grozny on a traffic police officer
In Chechnya, law enforcement officers kidnapped relatives and friends of 19-year-old Movsar Zakriev, as well as witnesses to the attack on a traffic police officer. Earlier, Zakriev attacked a traffic police post in Grozny and was shot dead. As blogger and oppositionist Ibragim Yangulbaev told Layout, the security forces are holding more than 20 people.
“They kidnapped the whole family, as well as relatives of men from the paternal side. Where exactly they are being held is not yet specified, acquaintances and friends of him were also kidnapped. This is a common practice of the Kadyrovites, to kidnap everyone and then interrogate them. People who were nearby were also abducted.”, – Yangulbaev said with reference to his informants.
According to their information, some of the abducted are in the Zavodskoy District Department of Internal Affairs in Grozny. Human rights activists believe that the detainees may be tortured, as well as subjected to psychological pressure, in order to find out who supports Movsar and approves of his act.
The attack happened this morning. How writes Baza, Zakriev ambushed a traffic police officer near the mosque, after which he attacked a policeman with a knife and took his service pistol. At the exit from the mosque, Zakriev saw two more policemen and opened fire on them, but did not hit anyone. Two employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Russian Guard, who were passing by, drew attention to the shooting. One of them ended up shooting Zakriev.
An appeal allegedly written down by Zakriev himself is being circulated in Chechen publics. In circulation, the translation of which leads “Fortanga”, the young man said that “for the sake of Allah he will fill up the cops”, and also that law enforcement officers “do lawlessness on the territory of Chechnya.” He added that his relatives and acquaintances are “among these enemies of Allah.” According to Yangulbaev, in this way Movsar wanted to say that his relatives work in the “Kadyrov system”.
