The Frunzensky District Court of Saratov sentenced the son of a lawyer and former children's ombudsman Pavel Astakhov Anton to 3.5 years in a penal colony in a major fraud case. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to the press service of the court.
According to investigators, Astakhov Jr., together with his partner Dmitry Arseev, took control of a certain company, and then fraudulently issued a loan from NVKbank to it and spent more than 3 billion rubles through the accounts of this legal entity. Astakhov will also have to pay damages of 75 million rubles to the bank. Arseev fled abroad last year.
Astakhov Jr. was detained and placed under house arrest at the end of 2021. Before that, he was an assistant to his father and was reported to sometimes replace him on trips around Russia, and also worked in structures close to the presidential council for modernization.
