Opposition politician Maria Kolesnikova, sentenced to 11 years in prison in Belarus, was placed in a punishment cell (SHIZO). This was announced by the Telegram channel of Viktor Babariko. When and for how long she was placed there is unknown.
Knowing that Kolesnikova could be placed in a punishment cell, the lawyer tried to get to her, but they did not let him in. The colony employees motivated this by the fact that Maria did not receive an application for a meeting, although she writes such applications right at the meeting with the lawyer and hands them to the colony employee.
Babariko's headquarters also reported that three penalties were imposed on Maria. On November 9 and 10, she was allegedly in the wrong place during working hours. On November 11, she received a reprimand for allegedly impolite treatment on her part of the staff of the colony.
Maria was not explained what exactly the violation was and with whom she behaved impolitely.
The Minsk Regional Court in September 2021 sentenced Maria Kolesnikova to 11 years in prison on charges of creating an extremist group, publicly calling for harm to national security, and plotting to seize power in an unconstitutional way. Almost no one from the huge queue that lined up in front of the court, including European diplomats, was allowed to read the verdict. She is serving her sentence in the Gomel IK-4.
