SBU conducts searches in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducts searches in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. According to her, this is part of the counterintelligence activities “as part of the systematic work of the SBU to counter the explosive activities of the Russian special services in Ukraine,” which are carried out with the participation of the National Guard and the National Police.

The SBU claims that it is conducting searches in order to “prevent the use of the Lavra as a cell of the ‘Russian world’” and in order to protect the population from provocations and terrorist acts. She also checks the evidence that the premises of the UOC are used to harbor sabotage and reconnaissance groups, foreign citizens, to store weapons, etc. SBU officers are looking for prohibited items in the Lavra, and its visitors are checked for involvement in illegal activities.

Recall that earlier the SBU opened a criminal case to justify the military aggression of Russia because of the song about the “awakening of Mother Russia”. This happened after on November 12, the priest of the UOC Yemelyan published a video in which visitors to the church of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra sing it.
