New road in Crimea
Russia has begun widening the road through the Arabat Spit (sand spit) in occupied Crimea to improve logistics, and the road through Armyansk is now within the HIMARS coverage of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and is dangerous to use. According to the Ukrainian Center for National Resistance, Russia needs the road on the Arabat Spit to transfer equipment to the south of Ukraine.
OSINT analyst DefMon also believes that the main road from Crimea is now under HIMARS fire control. According to him, now the road through the Arabat Spit is clearly not suitable for heavy traffic. The only road suitable for the transfer of equipment lies through the Crimean bridge.
Russia continues shelling Kherson
Russian troops continue to shell infrastructure in Kherson, on November 22, at least three people were killed as a result of the shelling, the head of the Kherson City Council Alexander Leshchenko told Suspilne. Now Russian UAVs are scouting across the river to select targets for artillery and rocket attacks, according to former US Navy unit commander and analyst Chuck Pfarrer.
On the eve of Russia continued shelling of the right-bank part of the Kherson region and directly Kherson, on November 21, explosions were heard in the city. Yury Sobolevsky, the first deputy chairman of the regional council, reported that attacks on civilian infrastructure were again recorded, and civilians were injured. He did not specify the exact number of wounded.
Ukraine has restored a damaged bridge across the Ingulets River, the right tributary of the Dnieper, near the village of Zagradovka, Kherson region. Like other crossings, it was destroyed during the Russian occupation of the right bank of the Dnieper.
Russia is gathering troops in the Donbas, the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is hindered by mud
Russia is also trying to encircle Bakhmut in preparation for a future offensive in the region of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk in the Donetsk region. A DefMon military analyst said that such a plan would be impossible to implement. The pro-Russian project WarGonzo noted that now one of the key cities for the capture of the entire Donbass ( in the publication he calls the seizure of territories “liberation” ) is Artemovsk (Bakhmut).
“The goal is to break through the Seversk-Soledar-Artemovsk defense line, which ultimately provides access to the Slavic-Kramatorsk agglomeration. In this regard, the capture of Majorsk, which was recently liberated, was a strategically important condition for reaching Artemovsk.
Military expert, retired Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan confirmed in a conversation with The Insider that Russian troops are now advancing in the Donbas region and have increased military pressure. According to him, Russia inflicts defeat twice as hard, because it pulled troops there that left the right bank of the Dnieper.
“The front of Ugledar, Avdiivka, Bakhmut and Lisichansk is now on fire, but there are almost no movements, because reinforcements have also approached us – the intensity of shelling has increased, the offensive operation is mainly carried out by Russian troops. The Russians ran into the lines of the cities of Bakhmut, Soledar, Marinka and Vugledar, therefore they simply do not move, they cannot take the city.
In other areas, for example, along the Dnieper in the Kherson region, Ukrainian artillery is being brought up. The Russians are pulling up the partially mobilized to the Zaporizhia Front, who have been preparing these two months at the training grounds – they go from Rostov to Mariupol and then to the Zaporozhye direction, namely, to Zaporozhye, Gulyaipole, Orekhov, Donetsk and up to 100 km deep to the line of the coast of the Sea of \u200b\u200bAzov.
At the same time, muddy roads began in Ukraine ( dirt roads become impassable or difficult to pass due to seasonal rains ). Videos appear on the network with equipment that is difficult to pass through wet soil. So, in the MilitaryLand military blog on Twitter , a record was published with a T-64BM2 tank of the Ukrainian 92nd mechanized brigade stuck in the mud.
Also, a video was published on the network, in which the Ukrainian MRAP MaxxPro armored personnel carrier is experiencing problems due to mud.
According to Svitan, Ukrainian troops are conducting offensive operations in the area of Makeevka in the Luhansk direction. Swithan also notes problems with the offensive in some areas due to mudslides. So, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are advancing from Kupyansk to Svatovo, but because of the rains, the ground does not predispose to offensives.
“Now it is better to enter the agglomeration while it is raining, and in early December it will also freeze. It is better to go to Donetsk, Orlovka, Makeevka. When the rains stop or it freezes, the movement to Melitopol and from Novaya Kakhovka to Armyansk will begin. There will be active operations from near Orekhov to Melitopol and from near Svatovo and from Makiivka towards Schastia, that is, on the Lugansk and Zaporozhye fronts. Orekhov and Melitopol have been ready for a long time, the weather just gets in the way.”
According to the WarMapper portal, which publishes updated maps every day, there have been no noticeable changes on the front line.
Air defense worked in Sevastopol
Air defense systems worked in Sevastopol, the videos were published in local publics. The Governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, said that two drones were shot down while trying to fly up to the Balaklava thermal power plant, and attacks of three more drones were repelled over the Black Sea. As reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the city government, the movement of sea passenger transport in Sevastopol has been suspended. Also in the pro-Russian Telegram channels , there were reports about the work of air defense over Balaklava and in the Evpatoria region.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov published information about the remaining Russian missile arsenal after large-scale shelling of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Federation has 119 Iskander missiles left; 347 missiles 3M55 Onyx; 6980 anti-aircraft missiles for the S-300; 229 Caliber sea-launched missiles; 132 Kh-101 air-launched missiles; 150 X-555; 120 X-22/32; 356 Kh-35 and 43 Kh-47M2 Dagger.
The case against the executed Russian soldiers
After the video of Russian servicemen shot in Lugansk Makiivka was published online, Ukraine announced that they committed treachery before being shot. As The Insider was told in the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, a criminal case was initiated under the article on "violation of the laws and customs of war" (part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to the prosecutor's office, the servicemen feigned surrender and opened fire on the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense, based on the video, accused the Armed Forces of Ukraine of war crimes, declaring "a massacre of unarmed Russian prisoners of war." The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the murder and ill-treatment of Russian prisoners of war on the territory of the “LPR”.
According to article 37 of the Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions, it is forbidden to kill, injure or capture an enemy by resorting to treachery. Perfidy is considered to be actions aimed at inspiring confidence in the enemy and making him believe that he has the right to protection or is obliged to provide such protection in accordance with the rules of international law applicable in armed conflicts, with the aim of defrauding such confidence. .
Videos posted on social networks show Ukrainian soldiers capturing Russian servicemen. In another video, filmed from the same location, corpses are already lying on the ground: many of them are face down, with their arms stretched over their heads and covered in blood. Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said on Oleksandr Plyushchev's YouTube channel that the authorities have the full version of the video of the execution of prisoners of war. Podolyak did not show the recording itself, noting that an investigation was underway.
“When you watch the full video, it is clear that some of the Russian servicemen were really going to surrender, and some of them opened fire on the Ukrainians who were trying to carry out the procedure. In the 47th paragraph of the Geneva Convention it is very clearly stated that when surrendering, if there is a threat from those who surrender, then such a parameter as prisoners of war does not work. That is, this is an essentially ordinary clash happened.
The situation in the border Belgorod region
The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, almost every day began to report on the victims and those killed in explosions and shelling. So, according to him, on November 22, during the shelling of Shebekino, a civilian was killed, who received a head injury when she was thrown back by an explosive wave. She died in an ambulance. Gladkov noted that in the afternoon shelling from Ukraine fell on the territory of the Veterans of War hospital, there were no casualties. The shells slashed the facade and knocked out several windows of the hospital, and a gas pipeline was damaged in the neighboring territory.
The governor also said that two more people died in the village of Staroselye, Krasnoyaruzhsky district. According to him, the couple was blown up by "ammunition of an unidentified type." He clarified that investigative measures are being taken to find out how the family ended up in the village. Since October 27, a state of emergency has been introduced on the territory of this municipality. The "yellow" level of terrorist danger in the region was extended for another 2 weeks, it will be valid until December 6.
