The Moskvich Automobile Plant has launched mass production of the new urban crossover Moskvich 3. According to media reports, car sales should begin in Moscow in January, and throughout Russia – in March.
According to Autonews , it is planned to produce 600 such machines by the end of the year. A third of them will receive an electric power plant.
In May, it became known that the Russian assets of the French automaker Renault will become state property of Russia, and the Moscow plant will be transferred to the Moscow government. At the same time, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that this would allow "to resume the production of passenger cars under the historical Moskvich brand."
The departure of foreign companies from the Russian market led to catastrophic consequences in the automotive sector. According to the results of May, car production in Russia collapsed by 96.7%, sales of new cars fell by almost 80%.
