18-year-old Leyla Gireeva fled from her family from Ingushetia and yesterday miraculously escaped from her persecution already in St. Petersburg.
The mother accused her daughter of stealing 250 thousand rubles so that she was put on the federal wanted list and eventually returned to the family. There, the girl was “treated” for atheism and her own views on life, they were taken to psychiatrists and imams.
When escaping, Leila was inspired by the example of 4 sisters from Dagestan who left their family for Georgia.
But the persecution continues: uncle Leila is a police major, and her father is a former policeman. They could initiate a search without observing legal conditions, human rights activists from Marem and SK SOS believe.
