The situation on the front line

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the Seversky direction, Russian troops fired at the areas of the settlements of Gay, Khrenovka and Yasnaya Polyana in the Chernihiv region, Basovka and Seredina-Buda in the Sumy region.

The number of shelling sites reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on November 24 was higher than usual, Def Mon analyst notes. "We see hot spots – these are Svatovo, Bakhmut and Donetsk."

The attacks of the Russian military in the Bakhmut direction are intensifying, writes Def Mon. According to him, the Russians achieved partial success both north and south of Bakhmut, they managed to take several observation posts. However, for the most part, the Ukrainians have so far managed to repel attacks in the area of Yakovlevka, Bakhmut, Optino, Kleshchievka, Andreevka, and Ozaryanovka.

A video of the shelling of the Russian military from drones also appeared on the network. According to the Telegram channel "Operational Armed Forces of Ukraine", it was filmed near Bakhmut.

Russia deploys paratroopers to Donbass

In the past two weeks, Russia has likely redeployed the main elements of the Airborne Forces (airborne troops) to the Donetsk and Luhansk directions in the Donbass, according to the British Ministry of Defense, which is also referred to by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In September and October, these most seriously weakened units helped keep the territory on the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region under Russian control. As noted, potential operational tasks for the paratroopers could be to support the defense in the Kremennaya-Svatovo zone in the Lugansk region or to strengthen offensive operations on Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. This is also reported by the military analyst Def Mon. “The accumulation of Russian troops continues south of Donetsk. I am receiving information that we will soon see a Russian attack in this direction.

Analysts of the Conflict Intelligence Team note that the pro-Russian forces, indeed, were able to advance in the Donetsk direction. Judging by the geolocation of the photo and video recordings, they managed to capture about half of Maryinka. Read more about what is happening in Marinka in The Insider report for November 23 .

Russian troops left the Cossack camps on the left bank of the Dnieper – Andryushchenko

Russian troops left the village of Cossack Camps in the Kherson region near Alyoshki. According to the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryushchenko, only non-systemic patrols remained in the village. There are no videos and photos confirming this information yet.

“Our residents of Mariupol from other occupied regions report that the occupiers have completely abandoned the Cossack Camps in the Kherson region near Alyoshki. Only non-system patrols interfere in the village. Before that, Zhiguli, Muscovites and other civilian cars that did not require much maintenance were taken away from the locals. It seems that in the Left Bank of the Kherson region, despite the statements, a negative offensive is being prepared. Again".

The parties again exchanged prisoners, the defenders of the Snake Island returned to Ukraine

On November 24, Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners according to the formula 50 to 50. In total, over the past two days, Ukraine has returned 86 soldiers from captivity, in particular, the defenders of Snake Island and fighters from Mariupol. A total of 1,269 people have been released to date. Among those released on November 24: 20 representatives of the National Guard of Ukraine, 12 soldiers of the Naval Forces, 10 representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 6 of the State Border Service and two fighters of the territorial defense. Among them are two officers, the rest are privates and sergeants. Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak spoke about this on his Telegram channel.

“It is important that we managed to return 19 defenders of Mariupol, 12 of whom were evacuated from Azovstal, as well as 15 prisoners from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and 7 from Snake Island,” Yermak said.

New maps of illumination of Ukraine

The strikes of the Russian military on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine continue. The day before, on November 23, one of the rockets hit a 4-storey residential building in Vyshgorod, it is known about 6 dead and about 30 wounded. According to CIT, judging by the scale of destruction, it was a Russian missile with a large high-explosive part, and not a Ukrainian guided anti-aircraft missile. In Vyshgorod, there is the Kyiv hydroelectric power station, which, most likely, was its target, analysts say. Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia is attacking infrastructure facilities in Ukraine in response to the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. “We are striking infrastructure facilities in Ukraine in response to the pumping of this country with Western weapons and Kyiv’s reckless calls for a military victory over Russia,” he said, speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine.

So far, however, civilians have suffered the most from Russian strikes. The Schemes project published the illumination maps of Ukraine in January 2022 and November 23, 2022.

“In the Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, the power industry has partially resumed electricity supply,” said Sergey Kovalenko, CEO of the Ukrainian energy supplier Yasno. – Critical infrastructure facilities are connected: hospitals, thermal power plants, pumping stations in almost the entire Kyiv and Dnepropetrovsk regions. Donetsk region also receives electricity. A significant part of users throughout Ukraine are still in emergency restrictions … Colleagues are now doing everything possible to resume supplies and return light to your homes. So please be patient. And if you are already with light, use electrical appliances very carefully.
