The Dutch Parliament has recognized Russia as a State Sponsor of Terrorism. This is reported by the Dutch newspaper NRC.
The vast majority of parties in the House of Representatives voted for recognition, thus supporting the initiative of the Green Left party member Tom van der Lee. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands emphasized that this is a symbolic gesture, since the law of the Netherlands does not provide for any consequences for countries sponsoring terrorism.
The decision of the Netherlands followed a similar decision of the European Parliament. On November 23, he also recognized Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism due to attacks on Ukrainian civilian targets, energy infrastructure, hospitals, schools and shelters. Earlier The Insider explained that this resolution has no legal consequences.
