Deputy Makarov became the main candidate instead of Kudrin for the post of head of the Accounts Chamber

Andrei Makarov, deputy of seven convocations of the State Duma, head of the committee on budget and taxes, may become the new head of the Accounts Chamber. Two sources in the parliament told about this “Layout”; the information was confirmed by an interlocutor close to the Kremlin. Makarov’s candidacy is being discussed “in the most serious way”, he specified, the deputy is considered the most suitable option for this personnel rotation. One of the parliamentary sources, however, added that the authorities may reject his candidacy because of Makarov’s health: the deputy recently underwent a serious operation.

At the same time, many facts of his biography speak in favor of the appointment of the deputy to the Accounts Chamber, the interlocutor of Nestka, close to the presidential administration, clarified. He is professionally versed in the topic of the budget, has a law degree, was a co-author of one of the parts of the Tax Code, the source recalled. Makarov himself declined to comment on the possibility of his appointment.

Chairman of the Accounts Chamber Alexei Kudrin will soon leave his post and move to Yandex, where he will manage the division of the company’s assets, sources from Faridaily, TASS, RBC and other media reported earlier. TASS sources claimed that “in fact, the decision [on his departure] has already been made, and it can be formalized on November 30 or December 14.” According to RBC, Kudrin will move to an IT company for the redistribution of assets and will receive a “certain position” there, as well as an option for 5% of the shares – 2% immediately, and the rest – a little later. At the end of September, it became known that Pavel Demidov, head of the department of external communications of the Accounts Chamber of Russia, moved to Yandex. He received the position of chairman of the department for relations with government agencies.
